Baby Shower Themes and Ideas – Great Baby Shower Ideas are Easier Than You Think

Baby Shower Themes and Ideas – Finding great baby shower ideas doesn’t have to be difficult or time consuming. Great baby shower ideas can usually be found by deciding on a theme for your shower and then simply organizing all the necessary elements under your theme. Below is a simple outline of what you will need to host the perfect baby shower.
Baby Shower Theme Ideas
You can narrow down your list of baby shower theme ideas by knowing if the baby is going to be a boy or a girl (though this can be difficult since many moms-to-be prefer not to know their child’s gender until birth). The next step is to pick your theme. Your options are wide open here and you can be as creative as you like. Some sample themes: Diapers, Noah’s Ark, Nursery Rhymes, Zoo (Baby Animals), Sports, Cars, Wizard of Oz, Baby Needs, Rubber Ducks, Smart Baby, Retro (Vintage) Baby, Holidays, Locations and many others make great baby shower ideas. You of course always want to let your guests know what your theme is as early as possible (in your invitation) so that they can plan accordingly.
Baby Shower Ideas: Games
Once a theme has been chosen your focus is instantly narrowed and be easier to determine. Traditional decorations might include, streamers, appropriately colored floral arrangements, themed candles, themed table cloths and napkins, baby themed items such as bottles, pacifiers and balloons. Many of these items won’t break your budget and can be found at many retailers in your area that focus on party supplies.
Baby Shower Party Favor Ideas
Party favors for your baby shower are a great way to instantly add a personal touch and show your extra attention to detail and creativity. Since many people will be taking these home as a keepsake, providing something memorable can go a long way in making a lasting impression with your baby shower. Personalized Candle Tins, Crystal or Ceramic Keepsakes, Personalized Soap, Photo Coasters, Personalized Tea Bags, Themed Vases, Personalized Seeds for Planting, Mini Topiaries all make great baby shower ideas. Personalized Candy Wrappers are one of our favorites and can be a creative way to make a great impression.
Baby Shower Ideas: Invitations
Baby shower invitations are your opportunity to let your guests know about your baby shower theme as well as other important information. There are many choices when it comes to finding the perfect baby shower invitations and depending on the impression you would like to make, many different levels of quality. Like party favors, baby shower invitations are often saved by your guests so paying close attention to quality here is well worth the effort and expense. High quality paper and materials are a must when designing and putting together a great baby shower invitation.
Hopefully these simple guidelines and tips can help you in planning your own shower for someone special. As mentioned above, deciding on a theme is an excellent way to organize yourself and narrow down your choices when getting all of your baby shower ideas together.

That website was pretty cool, I thought. A lot of neat ideas.
As far as food we just did sandwiches, veggie trays, cheese and crackers. Small things but it filled us up.

You could make a basket of things for him. Maybe some joke presents:
Condoms
extra strong coffee
novelty 'best dad' mug
small bottle of whisky (to wet the babys head)
Pack of cigars (if he smokes)
Pipe
Slippers(these are to make a joke of him being old now he has a child!)

Celeste got in first with my favorite pot luck dish, but with a twist. I always put in a 1# package of those little wieners as well. This is a dish that everyone seems to love, & leftovers are rare!!

If you know the name of your baby, print out sheets of paper with his/her name at the top , add 20 blank lines and tell people to make as many words as they can out of the baby's name. Or the word BABY SHOWER.
Take jars of baby foods (preferably the fruit) kind, put about 6 different flavors (small samples) on a plate for each guest. Have them guess which kind each one is.
Tell everyone to bring a baby picture of themselves and at the party have a guessing game of who each baby picture belongs to.

For my baby shower I had 10 tables and had small diaper cakes on each one, I ordered them online, and they are made with size 1 pamper diapers so I was able to use them for my son. Also, a few balloons on weights on each table are nice too and cheaper.

I once made a bassinet out of cupcakes. makes disbursement simple. Just take a cupcake. No forks, no plates no big mess. Just a napkin and a place to put the cupcake wrapper

Here's what we did at my sisters baby shower:
Went outside and found a tree limb that had lots of little branches coming off of it (about 1 1/2 feet tall). We used a block of that green fake flower holder (can't remember what it's called). Put the tree limb into that styrofoam block. Cover the styrofoam block with a diaper. We went to the Dollar Tree and got some ornaments (baby shower) and hung them on the tree limbs. It was a hit and I don't think we had $6 in the whole thing!!
